The Senses of Canada's Heritage - Indigenous Voices at the McCord Museum

Melanie Vogel Season 1 Episode 4

In tis episode I will be discussing the following topics, and using the permanent exhibition Indigenous Voices of Today: Knowledge, Trauma, Resilience at the McCord Museum as my base:

  • The sensory experience of going through the exhibitions itself, this will be from my personal point of view.
  • The concept of Voice - who’s voice is being presented and how is it being presented? In the exhibition can we see and hear the voices of the indigenous community or is it curated for an outsiders point of view?
  • Indigenous Curatorship - this has become more and more common over the years, having indigenous community participate and help curate exhibitions in museums.
  • Positionally - my own positionally and that of the exhibition/museum
